Event Description

Black Women’s Health Institute

This transformative institute is dedicated to advancing the health and well-being of Black women by addressing the interconnected issues that shape their lives.

This institute centers the voices and experiences of Black women while spotlighting HIV prevention and awareness, mental health and trauma healing, sexual self-care, maternal and reproductive health, and the power of resilience. We’ll explore actionable strategies, build supportive networks, and identify community-centered solutions that uplift and sustain wellness. Join us as we move forward together in elevating the future of Black women’s health.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify at least three barriers to HIV prevention, mental health care, and reproductive health access specific to Black women.
  • Describe trauma-informed and culturally responsive approaches for Black women.
  • Describe at least two self-care, resilience-building, or advocacy tools designed to support Black women’s wellness in participants’ personal or professional settings.
  • Discuss individualized or organizational action plans that incorporate new strategies to promote equity in HIV prevention, mental health, and reproductive health services for Black women.

This is a full day session that is part of the larger 11th National Conference for HIV, HCV, STIs, Harm Reduction and LGBTQ Health.
