How do we address Maternal Health in communities of color?
In the US, there are significant racial and ethnic disparities in maternal morbidity and mortality. We are a community that aims to close this gap by sharing stories and supporting current/expecting mothers and anyone interested in maternal health & wellness — especially those from communities of color. We are here to be informative, relational, helpful, and supportive. By joining this community, you will find engaging content about important maternal-fetal healthcare topics, including information about clinical research, from experts and people like you.

Here’s the truth. When it comes to medical research, we aren’t all included – not the way we should be, and not the way we can be.
People of color make up 40 percent of the U.S. population, but there’s a real lack of diversity when it comes to clinical trials. We’re underrepresented, which has only widened the number of healthcare disparities for us. That’s a problem, so let’s fix it.
Regardless of your own individual risk, chances are that at least one of your loved ones is a current or expectant mother. There’s a need to better engage pregnant people of color, and improve clinical research participation in order to inform development of novel therapies and improve outcomes.
