Registered nurse turned nurse practitioner, Ellen brings 11 years of oncology experience to the Karmanos Cancer Institute. She specializes in blood cancers, bone marrow transplants, and CAR-T cell therapy. Passionate about multiple myeloma, she empowers patients to take charge of their health. Outside of work, Ellen is a dedicated mom, dog lover, and enjoys crafting.
Diagnosed with multiple myeloma at 41, Schannon’s “ball of sunshine” spirit shines through. A mother of two, she balances treatment with a fulfilling career in communication and floral design. Her faith and supportive community fuel her fight, reminding her that every day is a gift.
Omie is a multiple myeloma survivor from Saginaw, Michigan, currently in remission. Diagnosed in 2022, she underwent extensive treatment including a bone marrow transplant. Grateful for her medical team and her faith, Omie is passionate about raising awareness and advocating for others facing myeloma.
Dr. Zonder is a Professor of Oncology and a leading expert in multiple myeloma and amyloidosis. He leads the multidisciplinary team at Karmanos Cancer Institute and has extensive research experience. His dedication to improving patient care is evident in his numerous publications and contributions to the field.
Robert is an experienced executive who uses his business acumen to advocate for community and faith initiatives. A multiple myeloma survivor himself, he openly shares his story to inspire others. Robert’s passion extends to mentoring youth, supporting entrepreneurs, and enjoying family time.
Kevin views his multiple myeloma diagnosis as a journey to wholeness. He combines medical treatment with spiritual exploration, finding strength in his faith and hope. Despite setbacks, Kevin remains positive, driven by his desire to inspire others facing the same challenges.
Shirley is a multiple myeloma survivor, currently battling a relapse. She’s a retired physical therapist assistant who dedicated 33 years to caring for others. Her faith and 25-year marriage to supportive husband are pillars of strength. Shirley embraces life’s journey with its ups and downs, advocating for self-care and patient empowerment. She’s eager to share her experiences and connect with others on a similar path.
