Shanelle Gabriel is a Brooklyn-based poet, keynote speaker, and lupus advocate. She has shared stages with Jill Scott, Nas, Diane Von Fürstenberg, and more, gracing global venues from Carnegie to the Vatican and HBO’s Def Poetry Jam. An educator for over 20 years, Shanelle facilitates creative writing workshops, develops curriculum, and offers professional development training for schools, districts, and organizations including the Center for Black Literature, Federal Hall, Georgia State University and more. Diagnosed with lupus in 2004, she has collaborated with the NIH, delivered keynotes for Congressional Hearings on Capitol Hill, and featured on the cover of USA Today on clinical studies.Â
