Over the Fourth of July weekend, the Caesars Superdome and downtown New Orleans host Essence Festival of Culture, a multi-day celebration named after its founder and sponsoring magazine. This event combines high-energy music performances with thought-provoking discussions on gender, race, culture, and art. Around the Superdome and temporary park spaces, vendors set up displays offering a wide array of fine art and crafts, from clothing and jewelry to collectible paintings and sculptures, reflecting the diverse cultures of the African Diaspora.
A pre-party day of service invites attendees to join local nonprofit leaders in supporting New Orleans through community projects.
The Essence Expo Experience encompasses seminars and workshops on beauty, style, power, and finance. Participants can engage in live tutorials, receive free consultations, attend fashion and makeup presentations, and more.
